1. Overview
RentAGun.com ships all firearms through a secure, fully compliant FFL-to-FFL transfer process. We do not ship directly to customers. All rentals are shipped from our central licensed FFL in Kentucky to a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) near the customer for pickup with adult signature required at all points of transfer.
Prepaid shipping labels will be issued for Returns to return to any approved location.
2. Shipping Eligibility
We currently offer shipping in select states where off-premises rentals are legally permitted. Renters must provide a valid residential ZIP code in an eligible state
We reserve the right to reject any order that conflicts with federal, state, or local law.
3. Order Processing & Cutoff Times
Daily Processing Schedule:
- Orders placed by 2:30 PM EST: Ships same business day
- Orders after 2:30 PM EST: Ships next business day
- Weekend/holiday orders: Ships next business day
4. Shipping Fees & Transit Time
Shipping fees vary by firearm type, destination, and service level
All fees are calculated and displayed at checkout before payment
Shipping charges are non-refundable once shipment is initiated unless due to a RentAGun error or shipping carrier fault
- Handguns: Air shipping required, 2 business days maximum transit time
- Long guns: Ground shipping allowed, 3-5 business days maximum transit time
- In-stock warehouse items: 1-2 business days from Paris, KY facility
- Firearm packages (with optics, gear, etc.): Transit time based on primary firearm type
5. Pickup Requirements & Rental Start
Pickup Window:
- You have 48 hours from FFL delivery notification to pick up your firearm
- Automated delivery confirmations from carriers trigger the 48-hour countdown
- Your rental period begins exactly 48 hours after FFL delivery, whether you have picked up the firearm or not.
6. Return Shipping Process
Return Initiation Requirements:
- Prepaid return shipping label must be scanned by carrier within 1 business day of your rental end date
- Our system monitors return label scanning to determine when return process begins
- Additional daily rental fees apply if return label is not scanned within the window.
Return Process:
- Use provided prepaid return label
- Package firearm according to included instructions
- Drop off at authorized carrier location
Returns must be completed on or before your scheduled return date. Late returns that are not initiated (label not scanned) within 1 business day of the rental end date will result in the trigger of late fees.
7. Shipping Restrictions
We do not ship to:
- States with mandatory waiting periods longer than the rental term (e.g., California)
- Locations with feature-based bans (e.g., certain rifles in NJ or NY)
- Customers lacking required state permits (e.g., FOID in Illinois)
- P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses
Our system automatically filters restricted inventory based on your ZIP code. If your location has specific legal constraints, you may not see certain products.
8. Shipping Damage or Delivery Issues
If your firearm is:
- Damaged in transit: Report to us immediately and do not accept the transfer from the FFL
- Lost by the carrier: We will investigate and, if necessary, provide a replacement or full refund
- Delayed beyond maximum transit times: You will be notified, and your rental period may be adjusted
Firearms must be inspected at the FFL before accepting the transfer. Once you take possession, damage claims become your responsibility.
9. Tracking
- All shipments include real-time tracking with automated notifications
- Tracking integration triggers automated pickup and return deadlines
10. Non-Pickup Policy
If you fail to pick up your firearm within 48 hours of FFL delivery:
- Rental charges begin automatically at the 48-hour mark
- FFL will hold firearm for maximum 7 days from delivery (standard FFL policy)
- After 7 days Firearm is returned to sender
- No refunds will be issued for missed pickup windows due to verified delivery
11. Automated System Integration
Tracking Triggers:
- Carrier delivery confirmation → 48-hour pickup countdown begins
- Return label scan → Daily rental fee calculation stops
- Physical receipt confirmation → Final rental charges calculated
Customer Notifications:
- Delivery notification with pickup deadline
- 24-hour pickup reminder alerts
- Return shipping deadline notifications
- Return scanning confirmation receipt
